Pet Sick Visits

We offer same day sick visits appointments (pending availability) to care for a wide range of medical concerns. Whether your pet is experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, limping, minor injuries, or sudden behavioral changes, our team will evaluate their condition, provide appropriate treatment, and help them feel better as quickly as possible.

When to Schedule a Sick Visit for Your Pet

You may want to schedule a sick visit if your pet is experiencing:

  • Urinary issues (straining, urinating blood)
  • Toxin or foreign body ingestion
  • Bite wounds
  • Parasite concerns (fleas, mites, sudden itching)
  • Ear or eye infections (redness, discharge, squinting, head shaking)
  • Significant behavioral changes
  • Coughing or sneezing
  • Dehydration or excessive drinking
  • Diarrhea or vomiting
  • Cuts, abrasions, or abscesses
  • Mild lameness, pain, or limping
  • Rash, hives, or facial swelling
  • Scooting
  • Overgrown or broken nails

What’s the difference between a sick visit and an emergency?

Sick visits are for medical concerns that require prompt attention but are not life-threatening. Emergencies involve life-threatening conditions that require immediate medical care and may warrant a referral to a 24-hour Emergency clinic.

Examples of life-threatening emergencies include:

  • Being hit by a car
  • Severe difficulty breathing
  • Inability to urinate
  • Excessive or uncontrolled bleeding
  • Abdominal bloating
  • Collapse or seizures

Is Cranbury Animal Hospital equipped to handle emergencies during regular hours?

This depends on the type of Emergency. Please give our clinic a call and we will provide you with the best recommendation for your pet.
What if my pet needs hospitalization or surgery?

Our doctors will review all recommended treatment options with you and discuss next steps. If specialty care or 24-hour monitoring is needed, we will refer to the closest Emergency clinic and promptly send any records (including bloodwork or x-rays).
Can I drop my pet off for a sick visit?

We do not offer drop off sick appointments but can schedule drop off procedures such as bloodwork and x-rays after the recommendation from a recent Doctor visit.
What payment options do you accept?

We do not offer in-house payment plans. We accept major credit cards, cash, CareCredit, Trupanion and Scratchpay. Our team will review all estimates with you prior to treatment.
How do I schedule a sick visit?

If your pet is experiencing a non-life-threatening medical concern, please call our office to check appointment availability. Our team will work with you to find the soonest available time to have your pet seen.
Do you offer sick visits after business hours?

We do not offer sick visit appointments outside of our regular business hours. If your pet needs care when we are closed, please contact a local emergency hospital such as:
